Bad Money Drives Out Good?
Have you ever wanted to speak for yourself but had hesitations as you are unsure how people will take it? Am I too straightforward? What if there is percussion? Maybe I should just suck it up. You keep second-guessing yourself.
☝️Terrified Decent People
At one of my work experiences years ago, there was a guy — Dickie; he is a total bully. Dickie would take credits of others, and if anything went sour, it is always others to blame. He would set people up just so that he would look good. He even would put the company’s interest at risk — he has no limit. He is difficult and the bottleneck. It is always his way or the highway. People went around him to get things done.
One of my friends at work, Tom, had a project to work with Dickie. Poor guy. Dickie contributed absolutely nothing. Tom is fully aware of how tricky it is to work with Dickie; he tried to be accommodating. But Dickie went too far and crossed the line. Tom was so upset and asked me the best thing to do given the situation — the Best Response (BR) in game theory.
“Did you follow the standard procedure at work when you work with Dickie?” I asked.
“What do you mean?” Tom said.
“Did you keep track of paperwork?” I further said.
