Are You a Pushover?

Did you create an incentive for people to stop pushing you any further?

Have you ever felt that people around you are taking advantage of you? Are they pushing you to do their work? Are you having a hard time saying no to people?

I used to be a pushover. I moved to Edmonton, Canada, at the age of 15 — being young, naive, and seeking peer acceptance, living in a town that speaks a foreign language was challenging for any teenager.

Carpooling to Bus Station

I remember a ride-sharing story when I was in high school.

“Hey Vivian, can you give me a ride to the West Edmonton Mall?” Jackson asked me this after school.

I was lucky to have a ride to the bus station at the West Edmonton Mall. If you knew how cold it was, you would know it was a blessing to have a ride. Otherwise, I would have to walk on the road covered by snow.

I asked my friend, John, if Jackson could join the ride, and John agreed to it.

Jackson thank both John and me at the end of it. All were good.

Jackson asked the next day again. He asked the following day again. Then he stopped asking but just showed up after school to ride with us.
